This sounds complicated
and tedius, but once you have done it a few times it is very quick and easy.
Example: Setting Volume
on the DSX using the Lenz LH100 handheld on Loco #335 (my MEC)
- Select 335 on the handheld
- Press F then 7 Enter
to go to the POM menu
- Page with the - key
until the CV display is shown. Then press Enter
- Now enter the CV number
29 and press Enter
- enter 2 for CV 29, and
press Enter
- Press Esc 3 times to
get back to the original locomotive display.
At this point, both decoders
have there short address active. 3 is the Gold-JST, and 4 is the DSX. We
want to modify the DSX, so select 4 on your handheld. At this time, you should
be able to operate sounds using address 4.
- Press F 7 Enter to get
back to POM
- Go to CV 61, and change
it to 103, which increases the ehaust volume slightly.
- Press Esc 3 times to
go back to the loco display for address 4
- Increase the speed to
test the volume (the loco won't move)
- If you aren't satisfied
with the volume, repeat steps 1-4 until you are. Exhaust volume can be
set from 96-111
- Press F 7 Enter to get
back to POM
- Set CV 29 to 38 (to
make the long address active again)
Now you have the CVs set
for the DSX. You still need to make the long address active on the Gold-JST.
To do this select address 3 on your handheld, and perform steps 6-7 above.
Select the original long
address (road number) on you handheld, and test your changes.
