Alaska III Sunday 9/21/08

The Best Western had a very good free breakfast available, so we took advantage of it. That also allowed us to get an earlier start, which Carl wanted to minimize the traffic we'd run into on the ride to San Juan Capistrano. I believe we were on the road about 8 AM.

We jumped onto I15, which is a 4 to 6 lane divided highway. Traffic was light, and we made good time to Lake Elsinore, where we stopped for a break. Carl then led us down route 74, the Ortega Highway. This is a 2 lane, windy road that crosses the mountains just East of San Juan Capistrano. It was a wonderful ride, dumping us our practically at Carl's house. The Ortega is the local "Racer Road" and is frequented by guys on very fast motorcycles going as fast as they can go, but on this day all was calm and we enjoyed the ride and scenery immensely!

We arrived at Linda and Mike's about 10:30, to warm welcome!

What a great trip!

Mileage today ??? miles.
